This week I have suffered from a severe fog! 'Someone' left her medical head lotion, which looks an awful lot like my rinse-and-put-in-your-lens liquid, right on the spot where I usually keep my contact lenses liquid. So at night I poured a lot of the medical liquid into the lens containers so that they soaked all night in this liquid. At 6.30 am I tried to rinse my lenses in that liquid and tried to put one in. Just before the lens touched my eye I felt that there was a volatile damp coming out of the lens. And then I smelled it and realized that my lenses had sucked themselves full of the wrong liquid. To shorten the story; I have had such a tiring week, looking through fog, or feeling the lenses, changing them and changing them again, couldn't read or couldn't see far away, couldn't get them in and couldn't get them out. And you know what they say: an accident never walks alone; thieves broke into our car and took the lap top (just to warn you; there are little machines that can detect the laptop, even when it is invisible). In the lap top case were also our home keys and my husbands business cards with our private address :-( I had to stay at home for two days so that some one could change al the locks of our house.
Now you know why I haven't written or visited you for such a long time.
Deze week had ik nogal last van interne mist. 'Iemand' zette haar medicinale haarlotion op de plek van mijn contactlenzen vloeistof. Nou heb ik die lenzen natuurlijk niet voor niets, dus nooit iets gezien natuurlijk. Net voordat ik mijn lenzen die de hele nacht in die alcohol oplossing hadden gestaan wilde indoen voelde ik dat het foute boel was. Toch heb ik dagen lang last gehad: zag dan weer niet veraf en dan weer niet dichtbij, dan kreeg ik de lenzen niet in en vervolgens weer niet uit. Dan had ik ze weer achterste voren in en dan weer ondersteboven, binnenste buiten of gewoon verkeerd om. Nou ja, dat kan natuurlijk allemaal niet, maar zo voelde het wel. Nu de mist weer opgetrokken is, schrijf ik eerst maar weer eens een logje. Ik kom nog bij jullie allemaal langs, weten jullie gelijk waar ik zo lang bleef. Natuurlijk komt een ongeluk nooit alleen; als waarschuwing wil ik jullie even zeggen dat je ook niet onzichtbaar je laptop in je auto moet achterlaten. Er zijn een soort spanningsmeters die de aanwezigheid van je laptop verraden en dan wordt je auto net als die van ons opengebroken, weg laptoppie. Toevallig (ik zei toch dat een ongeluk nooit alleen kwam?) had hubbie problemen met zijn attachékoffer en dus zaten zijn visitekaartjes en de huissleutels ook in die tas. Heb ik 2 dagen iemand over de vloer gehad om alle sloten te vervangen. Je kent het wel; koffie zetten en geblokkeerd zitten zijn.

Of course there is good news too! It seems that fall has arrived here too, but when I received an envelope from Karen Harvey Cox it just feels like summer has returned again. Inside the envelope was a very beautiful card and the water-color you can see above this post! What a generous gift and what a talented lady. If you don't know Karen you should check her blog 'a scrapbook of inspiration" and enjoy! I'm busy trying to gather and make some Halloween stuff for Wanda, my partner in the sweet and sinister swap. Alas no sneak peeks yet!

We have been busy in the garden. The goldfish were making the pond a kind of pea soup. So hubby has bought a filtering machine:

The little water container contains very little fish, young goldfish or some other fish?? We have two little black fish in our pond too, does anyone know anything about breeding fish?

This weekend my friend Z. and I went to the 'Gemeentemuseum' in den Haag (the Hague).
The building is beautiful on the inside too (alas it is prohibited to take pictures inside). I forgot to take some for you on the outside, but luckily I took this lovely card. This museum has a lovely and divers collection; from Mondrian to Van Gogh, from antique style chambers to style chambers in 'De Stijl' style and a dolls house, one of those that Holland is famous for. We went to see an exhibition of designer Piet Zwart. He was chosen dutch designer of the 20th century and is formost famous here for his design of a kitchen;
No I haven't secretly taken a picture inside the museum...we have a Piet Zwart kitchen in our house!
When we bought this kitchen I was looking for a matching waste bin. To understand this story you have to know that Piet Zwart would be translated to Peter Black in the English language. So I went to a special and expensive kitchen dealer and told him that I was looking for a matching wastebin to the Peter Black kitchen.I understand that not everybody knows who Piet Zwart (Peter Black) is, but when you deal in major kitchen brands one has expections. The dealer asked me: Peter Black is that a shiny or a matte black?
I didn't buy anything there.
Met Z. ben ik naar het haags Gemeentemuseum geweest. Een prachtig museum van binnen en van buiten. Binnen is het helaas verboden te fotograferen. We kwamen vooral voor de Piet Zwart tentoonstellling. Piet Zwart is vooral bekend als ontwerper van DE Bruynzeel keuken. Die hebben wij ook. Toen we hem net aangeschaft hadden was ik op zoek naar een bijpassende prullie. Op naar de duurste en meest gespecialiseerde keukenboer van Dordrecht en daar het doel van mijn zoektocht voorgelegd; een bijpassende prullie voor de Piet Zwart keuken. Vraagt die keukenboer: 'Piet Zwart is dat matzwart of glimmend?'
Het verbaast jullie zeker niet dat ik daar niet geslaagd ben.
