Hi you all out there! I'm back. Thanks for all your wishes to have a lovely vacation, they worked out great! We made a trip to the US and we returned last Sunday. I was a bit reluctant to tell you that we wouldn't be at home for two weeks.

We started here:
Overal lichtreclames en andere (technische) hoogstandjes.
In the big Apple. We only had 3 full days here, so it was hard working and being picky and making lots and lots of photos. I like the skyscrapers and the special effects of the typical 90-ties mirror windows;

In elk laadje zat dan weer een vakkendoosje gevuld met hebbedingetjes.
In every drawer there is a box with little compartments and every compartment is filled with the most lovely charms and embellishments.
Aaaaaah, je zou hier uren kunnen doorbrengen, alleen moet je dan
niet met het hele gezin gaan.
Aaaaaaah you could easily spend three days in here, but I had less than one hour! I still managed to get some really nice supplies. If you insist I show you some of them later.
Ik wist niet dat er zoveel leuke kleine parkjes waren in New York, compleet met zitjes, gratis!
I didn't follow the suggestion of one of the employees at Tinsel Trading Company, to send my family to the park! This is Bryant Park, which I knew by name through Project Runway, but I never realized this really is a park! This was one of the surprises of New York to me anyway, that there are several cute little city parks with chairs and tables to sit, really awesome!
Prachtig die Bosalino hoedendoos niet?
We did a lot of window shopping too; I loved these Borsalino hat boxes at J.J. Hat center.
En ik was ook helemaal weg van dit rek en van alle porceleinen handschoenmallen,
maar ik vond ze te duur, ik heb twee goedkope miniatuurtjes gekocht.
I would love to have this entire rack of glove molds, but I thought that even one was too expensive! I bough the miniatures though at Fishs Eddy's.
Ook heel duur was ABC Homes and Carpets, gelukkig maar, want ik zag er allemaal prachtige dingen,
die ik toch niet mee kon nemen. Zoals deze zinken ladenkast.
And this chest of zinc drawers didn't fit in my bag either, so it will probably be still for sale at ABC homes and carpets.
Ergens tussen 5th en 6th Avenue vond ik Lillies, een bar.
There even was a place called Lillie's, I thought it was an antiques shop, but it turned out to be a bar.
Met het mooie weer dronken wij voornamelijk vitamin waters.
Je werd al vrolijk van die kleurtjes, of zou je daar gewoon hyper van worden?
All we drank was some vitamin water. The colors really cheered me up.
We had wonderful weather, so we drank a few.
We hadden echt prachtig weer, gelukkig niet te heet om te shoppen.
Dit soort contrasten zie je overal.
Look at the sky! It was about 80 degrees, but never too hot for shopping hehehe!
Anthropologie, een geweldige winkel, zowel binnen als buiten, dit is binnen
of is het toch buiten?

Ik wist niet dat er zoveel eind 19de eeuwse gebouwen waren in New York
I didn't expect to find a lot of 19th century/turn of the century buildings in New York, but there are. There really are a lot of beautiful decorated buildings that wouldn't misfit in Paris (which has been rebuilt and expanded by Haussmann in the same period). The contrast of several styles in architecture makes the city quite interesting, as the variety in height does too.
En natuurlijk vond ik ook weer wat op straat;
zeker 8 van die archiefdozen, leken me geweldig om een
kast van te maken, maar ja, zelfs ik begreep dat dit nu niet ging.
Not only the buildings, the people, the merchandise and the shop windows caught my attention. I was really thrilled to find this pile of junk on the street! There were about 8 of these archive boxes, which could easily be turned into a archive chest, but my family was very relieved that this time even I realized that I just couldn't take them home. Too bad.

Of course we all wanted to visit Dylan's candy store! Yesss these are all gum balls!
Omdat het zulk mooi weer was, was het af en toe lastig om mooie etalage foto's
te maken. Soms was het een voordeel. Ik vind het net alsof ik hier photo shoppen
voor gevorderden heb toegepast. Lucky shot!
Due to the beautiful weather it wasn't always easy to take photos of windows, but sometimes the reflection makes the photo more interesting, like I did some enhanced work of photo montage.
Is dit niet DE manier om je hoge hakjes ten toon te stellen?
Ik noem dat tegenwoordig mijn tv schoenen. Het enige wat ik nog relaxed doe terwijl ik
deze schoenen draag is tv kijken.
Isn't this the perfect way to display your designers' shoes?
(I always call my high heels TV shoes, because watching TV is the only thing to do while wearing these kind of shoes AND feeling comfortable. Hey I'm not 20 anymore!).

En natuurlijk moesten we ook deze dame bezoeken.
And there was some serious sight seeing too.

Het kleine museum dat er tegenover ligt was heel indrukwekkend.
Met allemaal persoonlijke verhalen. Gelukkig stonden er dozen met tissues...
And to the small museum of the tragic events of 9-11-01. This museum was very impressive as it tells the stories of people, victims, helpers and witnesses. No one left the building with dry eyes.
Central Park was prachtig met al die bloeiende bomen.
Of course there was time for relaxing moments in Central Park, which was really beautiful with a lot of trees blossoming.
Met pijnlijke voeten verlieten we New York en vlogen we verder naar Miami.
It was time to move on again, we took another flight and we went to Miami, Florida!

Ze passen helemaal bij de art deco vormen en het zonlicht.
The art deco buildings with their beautiful colors that suits this light so right.
Hoewel deze gebouwen ook helemaal geweldig zijn in het donker met hun neonverlichting

Ook de interieurs zijn helemaal (weer) art deco, die terazzo vloeren omg.

No, this is my impression of Disney World.
I think it's amazing how the people there manage to create all kind of worlds. Even ones that aren't so Disney at first sight, or is that the ultimate Disney dream?
Dit is vast de kerstboom van Imelda Marcos.
Window shopping is always fun at Disney World too.
What about this shoe tree filled with lovelies? Mmm, this could well be Imelda's Christmas tree.
I have two major Disney fans living with me in this house and of course a visit to Florida wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Disney world parks.
Vanuit Disneyworld weer relaxen aan de golf van Mexico.
Dit was niet de enige haai die we zagen.
From Orlando we moved to the Gulf coast, first Clearwater and after that Naples.
This wasn't the only shark we met...

Via de Everglades, waar duizenden aligators in het wild leven, gingen we weer terug naar Miami.
Through the Everglades, we got back to Miami again.
Ditmaal logeerden we in het Cardozo hotel van Gloria Estefan.
This time we stayed at the Cardozo hotel on Ocean Drive.
This hotel is owned by Gloria Estefan. I was looking forward to hearing her songs, but unfortunately the cd boxes in our room were empty.
Ik zou dolgraag dit tapijt op mijn trap hebben!
I would love to have this carpet on my stairs!
Afgelopen zaterdag zeiden we Miami vaarwel en vlogen terug naar Amsterdam waar we zondag arriveerden.
Last Saturday it was goodbye to Miami! Time to return home!
The best thing of traveling is of course coming home.
This time was very special as my friend and neighbor Z. surprised us with a 'fresh package'. As we returned on Sunday we couldn't get any groceries, so she left us a couple of tomatoes, onions, eggs, ham, tomato soup, some bread to bake off, fresh milk, yogurt and fresh fruit. What a great welcome and what a great idea. Thanks Z.!
Let's see what happened the last two weeks; I haven't had time to read any of your adventures yet, but I will visit you in the coming days. I have to tell you that I received a lovely package from Gabriela, photo next time, the Easter tags from the swap arrived and Susanna emailed me that she made a blog post with my winged messengers photos, check out here. Heli received my Marie Antoinette package, more about that soon too.
This was my longest post ever!
It is in more ways a special post, it is my 100th!

Het beste van met vakantie gaan is natuurlijk thuiskomen.
Dit keer wel heel erg speciaal, want we troffen daar een welkom-thuis-vers-pakket aan. Heerlijk als je na een vermoeiende reis je koelkast weer gevuld vindt met eieren, melk, yoghurt, ham. Er vers fruit is, vers brood en tomaten soep. Wat een goed idee dat veel navolging verdient. Dank je wel Z.
Door jet lag en een overdosis aan vuile was, heb ik nog geen tijd gehad om jullie blogs te bezoeken. Wel wil ik alvast zeggen dat ik een mooi pakket kreeg van Gabriela Delworth, Susanna heeft een post gemaakt over mijn foto's van de winged messengers, ik heb inmiddels de paastags ontvangen en Heli heeft mijn Marie Antoinette Swap pakket ontvangen.
Overigens heb ik ook veel tijd gestoken in het maken van deze post. Ik dacht er maar een speciale post van te maken want dit is mijn 100ste post. Als je comments geeft dan ding je mee naar de speciale feestprijs die voor de gelukkige prijswinnaar gemaakt wordt.
