I don't know about you guys, do you have the feeling that August was lost somehow? We had so much autumn days. But I have good news: August is still here in my hometown Dordrecht:
Ik weet niet hoe het met jullie zit, hebben jullie het gevoel alsof augustus ineens verdwenen is? We hadden zoveel herfstige dagen. Nu heb ik goed nieuws; augustus is terug en het staat in Dordrecht:

Let's get rid of that tree, ah, that's better! If you follow any dutch blogs, you must have seen this restaurant and the hotel before, but of course I hope to show you some other pictures.
Yep hier is het: Augustus of beter gezegd Villa Augustus
De Zomer in Augustus lijkt voorbij te zijn, jammer. De tekening werd gemaakt door Dorine de Vos, een heel getalenteerde dame die eerder Hotel New York revampte (ik schreef er hier over) en zichzelf met dit project overtroffen heeft.
Summer in August (=zomer in augustus) seems like over.
This drawing was made by Dorine de Vos, an extremely talented woman who revamped Hotel New York (I wrote a post about that here) and did an almost better job in and outside Villa Augustus.
The hares are the trade mark of Villa Augustus and can be seen as doormats, on plates, menus and even as gifts in the gift shop:

I have been a fan of this place since it opened in July 2007, just before I started blogging, but I put a lot of photos in my Picasa album back then.
Sinds de opening in juli 2007 ben ik fan van Villa Augustus, dat was nog voordat ik ging bloggen, maar ik heb er destijds direct een Picasa album over gemaakt, sommigen van jullie zullen zich dat nog wel herinneren.

This is Villa Augustus in July 2010 (mmm I come here about every month and I always take photos!)
Behind the restaurant is the vegetable garden. The food that is served in the restaurant is organic and is as much as possible from this garden.
Achter het restaurant ligt de groenten tuin. In het restaurant wordt veel met deze en andere biologische ingrediënten gewerkt.
At the end of the vegetable garden is the is the hotel. Both buildings were part of the water supply system of Dordrecht. This one was the water tower, the restaurant was the pumping station.
Both are obviously from another time. This is the oldest 19th century building, the other art deco dates probably from the 1920/30ties.
Aan het eind van de groenten tuin ligt het hotel, de voormalige watertoren. Het restaurant was voorheen het pompstation, beiden onderdeel van het waterleidingbedrijf.
It was this old photo that inspired Dorine de Vos and her partners to make Villa August into something castle like.
Including a formal garden, which is behind the hotel:
Bovenstaande oude foto inspireerde Dorine de Vos en haar partners om van deze oude industriële gebouwen iets kasteelachtigs te maken.
Inclusief een formele tuin, die achter het hotel ligt.

And castle walls which are made of old bricks and parts of old buildings, they sure know how to recycle.
Zowel de muren rondom als sommige paden werden van gebroken stenen en andere resten gemaakt, heel groen!
Even some pavements are made of broken stones. Love it!
This would be a cheap way to make a path.

Ik hou van de inrichting waar van alles met elkaar gecombineerd wordt. Let vooral ook op de kroonluchter, die verandert ieder seizoen: Hierboven met artisjokken in augustus!

| Even the restrooms are something else in Villa Augustus En natuurlijk ook even een kijkje in de toiletten, allemaal anders.  The industrial characteristics were kept, like this green water basin, now a border between public and professional part of the restaurant. De karakteristieke industriële elementen, zoals hier het inmiddels groen geverfde basin, werden behouden.  En ook dit monster rek, helemaal geweldig, zou ik zo willen hebben, jij ook? |
